Dr Scott Schwartz's head shot

Dr. Scott Schwartz, Educational Advisor

Dr. Scott Schwartz is a Licensed Educational Psychologist, who earned a Ph.D. in Education from UC Berkeley in 1995, a M.A. in Education from UC Berkeley in 1991, an Ed.M. in Education from Harvard University in 1988, and a B.A. in Developmental Psychology from UC Santa Barbara in 1986. For the past 30 years, he has worked as a School Psychologist in the public schools and at the state level. He has vast experience conducting psycho- educational evaluations and has worked with numerous Individualized Education Program (IEP) teams to support student learning. He consults with Schwartz Tutoring and contributed to the development of tutor training and the learning style questionnaire using evidence-based practices. In his free time, he enjoys playing golf, watching sports, teasing his son, and taking his two golden retrievers for walks in the park.

Michelle Cosmah's head shot

Dr. Michelle Cosmah, Educational Advisor

Michelle Cosmah has been a Clinical Professor in the Department of Teaching, Curriculum, and Educational Inquiry at Miami University since 2013. Her previous professional experience includes over 10 years teaching with the Cincinnati Public School District in grades K-3. Her research interests include early childhood literacy, digital literacy, and school partnerships. For over 5 years, Dr. Cosmah has been involved in tutoring projects in the local schools. Most recently, collaborations through coursework have been the focus of current projects, such as Summer Scoops and partnering with Schwartz Tutoring.

Jacob Schwartz, Chief Executive Officer

Jacob Schwartz is the Founder and CEO of Schwartz Tutoring. He started the company in August 2017 with the mission of personalizing education to fit students’ learning styles and interests. He enjoys delegating as many tasks as possible to the wonderful people on this page and is ultimately responsible for the long-term direction of the company. In his spare time he likes to play golf, lift weights, and checkout books from his local library.

Jared Brown, Chief Financial Officer

Jared Brown graduated from Miami University in Spring 2020 with a B.S. in Finance, and has served as the Chief Operating Officer since the founding of Schwartz Tutoring in August of 2017. He currently resides in Cincinnati, Ohio and specializes in operations management. Jared is passionate about exercise, traveling, sports, video games, investing, fashion, and undertaking new skills and hobbies. He is most definitely a visionary, and is always looking for his next big pursuit (or distraction).

Savannah Byas, Chief Operating Officer

Savannah Byas is a senior Human Capital Management and Leadership major from Powell, Ohio. She is a member of the Business Student Advisory Council, Miami Management and Leadership, and Zeta Tau Alpha. She is the Chief Operating Officer for Schwartz Tutoring where she is in charge of recruiting, vetting, and retaining top tutoring talent. In her free time she enjoys listening to music, watching scary movies, and working out.

Jared Higgins, Chief Technology Officer

Jared Higgins is the Chief Technology Officer of Schwartz Tutoring. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. in Computer Science from Miami University in 2021. Previously, he was a volunteer for Kode2Learn, a student organization that hosts coding clubs for elementary students in the Oxford, Ohio area. As the CTO, he is responsible for the maintenance and growth of the tutoring platform. Jethro Castillo, Director of Marketing

Jethro Castillo graduated Magna cum laude from the University of Notre Dame in December 2019 with a B.A. in Economics while also on the pre-med track. He currently is an independent consultant for small businesses after working in the startup world for a couple years. Additionally, he is making music, writing, and pursuing a side career in photography.

Julia Razavi, Campus Manager

Julia Razavi is a senior from Cleveland, OH. She is a biology major with a pre-medical studies co-major and a medical sociology minor. She is a member of Miami Medical Education Development and a volunteer at Fort Hamilton Hospital. In her free time Julia enjoys exercising, baking, and hanging out with friends.

Kyle Lierer is a senior computer science major with a focus on full stack development and cloud architecture at Miami University from Liberty Township, Ohio. Kyle has natural a passion for technology, design, and helping impact people through the use of technology. He is an active member of Miami University’s Lockheed Martin Leadership Institute. In his free time, Kyle is an avid photographer/videographer, reader, and enjoys to frequently hike.
